The
creation of JOB
The JOB company
began in Perpignan, France (a city on the Mediterranean
coast just miles away from the Spanish border) in 1830.
Mr Jean Bardou,
a baker in Perpignan, had the idea to create a small booklet
of paper leaflets for rolling cigarettes using a type
of paper similar to that for wrapping bread. This type
of cigarette paper had never previously existed for smokers.
His invention was quickly an incredible success, and continues
to be so after 170 years.
Jean
Bardou signed the booklets
with his initials J B, between which he placed the rhombus
(diamond shape) representing the weapons of Perpignan.
Hence, the customers read JOB and created the name of
the brand. Today still, you will find this mark on all
JOB products in the world.
