Job s'inspire de l'art nouveau

At the end of the last century, when Jean Bardou's son took over from his father, advertising was at its beginnings. The bourgeoisie and the northern industrials from France and Catalunya were interested into a new artistic current named Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau, an avant-gardist movement claimed beauty to stay within everyone's reach and esthetic to be in everyday's life.

Well versed in the artistic world, Pierre Bardou got in touch with popular creator to realize posters for the JOB's Company. In posters, one artist was already well knownn... Alphonse Mucha.He always got his inspiration from flora, long-haired woman face : a dreaming woman is smoking, her hair is melted with the smoke In these days, it was absolutaly revolutionary.

Various version of two posters art nouveau models were made to be shown in tobacco shops and coffee shops. He drew also a calendar for JOB.The posters were successfully sold for 3F in popular edition .

In 1898, the poster was published in postcard and also distributed into 3 languages (french, greek, arabic) for the Middle East and Mediterranean countries shops. We also have other artists such as : Clément, Gervais, Cappiello..., always with the same inspiration.
